Covid 19 - What you need to know - Latest Government Announcements.

On Friday evening a seismic, but not unexpected, announcement was made by the Prime Minister in his daily evening press conference.

Prime Minister Johnson announced that cafes, pubs and restaurants should close with effect from Friday evening (20th March 2020) in order to promote measure designed to aid social distancing.

All the UK's nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres have also been told to close "as soon as they reasonably can".

Mr Johnson announced these measures would be reviewed on a monthly basis.

The Coronavirus Bill, which currently includes specific powers to issue directions relating to events, gatherings and premises, is making its way through Parliament it’s 2nd reading is scheduled for 23rd March.

In the meantime Authorities are pressing premises to follow the Prime Ministers directions.
